The UI Technical Artist holds a wealth of knowledge in dealing with the technical & content creation challenges associated with in-game UI. They will produce work that is at a high level of quality and have a proven track record of resolving the complex and broad-reaching challenges in relationship to content construction, pipeline management and cutting-edge visuals.

This is a future-facing role, in addition to current best practices and competitive awareness you will understand emerging trends and technologies in video game content and make strategic recommendations as to how they may benefit and/or impact project development.

Additionally, the UI Technical Artist makes important contributions to key initiatives and projects and participates in setting product vision within the studio.

A UI Technical Artist at Electric Square Singapore:

  • Collaborates with the art team to ensure their efficiency and advise on any technical issues that arise. Help them communicate their needs to the development team.
  • Creatively solves technical challenges and limitations to maximise cutting edge visuals within hardware limitations.
  • Creates shaders, materials and other needed content & assets needed to deliver high quality UI widgets
  • Constructs complex UI widgets and layouts that bring together the technical and artistic vision of the UI as a whole

Qualification


  • Comfortable in a scripting/programming language
  • Data driven templating approach to UI
  • Good design skills for widget use and functionality
  • Artistic eye for UI layout, spacing, animation and colour
  • A plus if you’ve worked with Unity's input and UI systems before
  • A proven background in commercial game development
  • A demonstrable interest in UI and related areas (ie. web front-end, MVC concepts, responsive frameworks)
  • Examples of complex UI widgets
